Insert replacement
An insert unit fits inside a retained frame. It can reduce disturbance and finish work when the frame is structurally sound, square, dry and compatible with the new unit.
Full-frame replacement
The complete old frame is removed, exposing the rough opening. This creates access to substrate and flashing while adding removal, waterproofing, trim and finish scope.
Glass area and sightlines
An insert typically adds a new frame inside the old one and may reduce visible glass. Full-frame replacement can recover opening area but does not guarantee the same sightlines as the original.

Can a leaking frame receive an insert?
An insert does not automatically correct failed flashing, rotten substrate or water paths around the retained frame. Investigate the cause before choosing the scope.
